The South Sudan National Police Service has registered over 10 death cases in the last five days across the country.

The South Sudan National Police Service has registered over 10 death cases in the last five days across the country.

Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, Spokesperson for the South Sudan National Police Service said in a statement that the deaths reported across the 10 states and three administrative areas occurred between 7th to 12th January 2025.

 He disclosed that unknown armed criminals in Bentiu on 11th January 2025 shot dead 3 persons in Dolanga Village, Aliny County and a case has been opened at Aliny county police division.

 He also said that unknown armed cattle raiders from Bentiu shot dead 2 persons and injured 2 other persons on 12th January in Aliny County. Koang noted that the attackers raided 518 herds of cattle belonging to a Sudanese community but the SSPDF managed to intercept them.

Koang said that a 21-year -old female committed suicide on 7th January by hanging herself in her house in War laac village of Awiel West County.

He said that a criminal case was opened at Awiel West County police station.

“On 7th January 2025 at around 4:00 p.m, a group of organized gangs fought among themselves which resulted to death of a 21 -year -old man in IDP camp in Bentiu. The deceased is reported to have been stabbed. A criminal case is initiated in Bentiu police station and the investigation are ongoing,” said Koang.

Koang added that a 45- year -old male civilian was killed on 7 January  by a 22- year -old male civilian in Deri village near Jebel – Ladu and the incident was reported to Gudele police.

He added that the suspect surrendered himself to the chief of the area and later was handed over to the police.

“On 8th January 2025 at around 9:30 -p.m, a 35 year -old male was shot and injured by unidentified armed criminal in Kuda area of Luri payam of Juba County, when they were moving cattle to another cattle camp and at the same day at around 4:00p.m, a 20 –year- old female fell down from a motorcycle and died in Awiel East County. A case was opened and the investigations are ongoing,” said Koang.

In addition, Koang said that a 36- year- old man was shot dead by an unidentified armed youth of Panagok community in Nyang payam of Gogrial East County on 8th January and the incident is related to revenge killing.

He also noted that on 8th January, a dead body of a 66 -year old- male Sudanese was found South of UNMISS camp in Malakal.

“The case of the death was suspected to be cholera infection. The dead body was handed over to the Sudanese business community for burial, and at the same day at around 8:00 p.m two youth fought themselves in Nasir County which resulted into the death of a 55 –year- old man,” said Koang who revealed that one of the suspects was arrested.
