Yambio Municipality authorities on Tuesday awarded certificates of recognition to various units of the organized forces in acknowledgment of their relentless efforts in maintaining peace, security, and professionalism during the festive season.

These units were recognized in the presence of Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba, Governor of Western Equatoria State at a ceremony held at Yambio Municipal Headquarters.

Speaking at the event, Futuyo praised the dedication of the organized forces, urging them to sustain their commitment to safeguarding peace and security in the State.

He also announced that salaries for both the military and civil servants for the past two months would be disbursed next week, offering a sense of relief to the security forces and public employees.

Yambio Mayor, John Singira, emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges faced by the forces.

“While the government continues to battle economic hardships, providing basic food supplies to the army can help alleviate their suffering,” he said.

The units honored with certificates include Internal Security Bureau, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), National Police Service, Correctional and Prison Service, Unified Forces, Regional Force, Military Intelligence, Wildlife Conservation, National Civil Defense Service, and Traffic Police.

The event was also marked by a celebratory gesture, with two bulls slaughtered to provide food for the hundreds of officers in attendance. This gesture symbolized the municipality’s appreciation for their service and commitment.

The recognition ceremony not only celebrated the professionalism of the organized forces but also highlighted the local government’s commitment to fostering harmony and security in Western Equatoria State.
