The Program Coordinator for the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, Bush Buse, has praised the Mundari community for recognizing him as a champion of peace, education, health, and development at the 2025 Mundari community champion awards.
“This acknowledgment serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving our shared goals. I take immense pride in being part of a community that values working together, and I am eager to continue making a positive impact in the years to come,” said Buse on Wednesday in an interview.
Buse who is the former Chairperson of the Mundari United Youth Association has empowered youth through various development initiatives including sports, agriculture, and conflict resolution.
He said the award is not only a personal achievement but a testament to the collective spirit of the remarkable Mundari community and people who have been the backbone of the peace journey.
“The true champions are those, whose lives have been touched by our collective efforts, and I remain humbled by the opportunity to serve them, and I am thrilled to inspire others while serving as a role model within my community,” said Buse.
Buse was recognized alongside other Mundari community dignitaries including Clement Wani Konga, the former Governor of Central Equatoria State.
Others include Alex Bolek, a dedicated physician who established a primary school in Mundari Bura and Tindilo of Terekeka County and Rock City medical Centre in Juba, Asunta Paul, the Chairperson of the Terekeka County Women Association who lobbied for the construction of a women’s center.
Buse said the recognition made during the annual Mundari cultural festival, will enable capable Mundari personalities to uplift the community through various development initiatives.
“This recognition is a remarkable experience, and I feel honored to be part of such a vibrant and supportive community. Together, we will continue to uplift one another and strive towards a brighter future,” he said.
