Residents in Terekeka County of Central Equatoria State have expressed frustration over the poor state of roads in the County.

Asunta Paul, Chairlady of Women’s Association in Terekeka County said on Tuesday that the road connecting Terekeka County with Central Mundari is in bad shape, thus making it difficult for the locals to access key services like health.

“Central Mundari’s roads are in poor condition, and the situation gets worse when it rains. The transportation of sick people to Terekeka becomes challenging, particularly when a pregnant lady wants to give birth,” said Paul during the reception of the State Governor Augustino Jadalla Karmilo Wani in Terekeka.

Paul also said that Terekeka County lacks proper health facilities where mothers can give birth safely.

“When a pregnant woman is transported to Juba, she may arrive safely or she may die during travel or the child may die in the womb,” she disclosed.

For his part, Marko Majak, Chairperson of Terekeka Youth Association said most of the roads have not been repaired over the past years.

“Roads are an issue for us, particularly in Terekeka. There are times when poor roads prevent us from reaching the ten payams where we young people wish to spread messages of peace,” said Majak.

The youth leader appealed to the government to repair roads to ease movement of people.
