Citizens Call for Emergency Response and Rehabilitation Initiative Evacuation has called on the government to undertake emergency evacuation of South Sudanese citizens from war-torn Sudan.
Taban Paride, Chairperson of South Sudan National Youth Union said they call South Sudan government, UN agencies, especially UNHCR, who is the custodian of all the refugees to evacuate people from the war zones in Sudan.
“This call is a general call to all South Sudanese, both living within South Sudan and outside. We are calling for an emergency response, we are calling for them to peacefully evacuate our own South Sudanese back home or to a safer place,” said Paride at press conference.
Paride said they are asking the international community to ensure that whoever was commanding the brigade that led to the slaughter of South Sudanese must be brought to face justice.
“We are also calling the government plus other international bodies, the human rights bodies, to form a committee that comprises of youth and the Western world to investigate on the barbaric act that is perpetrated to our own citizens by the Sudanese army,” he said.
“What we are asking simply is if you are a South Sudanese who is very concerned, even if you bring 10,000 pounds as your contribution, it plays a very greater role. Bring it, we combine, and then we plan it properly so that we go and evacuate our loved ones who are still trapped,” he said.
Yangi Victor, a member of the High Level Committee for Citizens’ Call urged all South Sudanese to denounce revenge, adding that the heinous crime is committed by armed group including the Sudan Armed Force and the Rapid Support Forces.
Victor also urged the South Sudanese in Sudan to find an opportunity for emergency evacuation, adding that if there are conflict which involved the warring parties, there is need to stay in safer zones.
“I want us to denounce the violence and all acts of brutality against the Sudanese. My message to the government of South Sudan is that let them continue with the process that they have already started,” said Victor
“The ones in Sudan, those who are holding arms, are the ones killing. But the ones who are here in South Sudan, they are running away from that conflict. In our programs of the evacuation, we evacuated some Sudanese into South Sudan,” he added.
