The Commissioner of Ezo County, Abel Sudan, has encouraged his people to embark on agriculture to boost food security and household incomes.
Sudan said in an interview with The Dawn on Monday, that agriculture should become the cornerstone of Ezo County’s development starting in 2025.
“Let us make agriculture our priority in 2025. Agriculture is the backbone of any strong economy. Take America as an example they are strong because they have food and money,” said Sudan.
Sudan emphasized the importance of communities earning income through surplus sale from their produce, adding food availability will also improve nutrition.
He expressed optimism that prioritizing agriculture could transform Western Equatoria State, particularly Ezo County, into South Sudan’s food basket by 2026. He underscored that this transformation would not just alleviate hunger but serve as a catalyst for poverty reduction and economic empowerment.
The call to action has sparked interest across the county, with many households now looking to adopt farming as a means to secure their futures. It is clear that the potential of agriculture, if fully harnessed, could lead to a prosperous and food-secure future for Ezo County and beyond.
The Commissioner concluded his message with a call to unity, stating, “Agriculture requires collective effort. Every household, every community, and every individual has a role to play in ensuring that we build a stronger, more self-reliant Ezo County in 2025 and beyond.”
