"We Dare where others fear"

The South Sudan National Police Service said over 600 prisoners escaped from a military detention facility in Giada on Wednesday.
The escapees, who had been detained for their involvement in looting during last week’s riots in the city, included 550 civilians and 50 members of the organized forces, said Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial in a statement.
“Some prisoners who had robbed shops during the violent protests in Juba, following the massacre of South Sudanese by Sudanese Armed Forces in Wad Al Madeni, broke out from the military detention facility in Giada,” said Kassara.
Kassara confirmed that 410 of the prisoners had been apprehended by mid-day.
“The military police shot in the air while pursuing them towards Lologo Market and in the process, 410 of the escapees were re-arrested, and we are still pursuing the remaining 190 prisoners,” he disclosed.
The authorities have stepped up security in Juba, with police and military forces conducting an intense search for the remaining fugitives.
The escape has raised concerns about the security of the city, and authorities are urging the public to stay alert.
“We are calling on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities,” said Kassara.
The escape highlights the volatile situation in the country, especially in light of recent protests and the on-going tension sparked by the killings of South Sudanese nationals on January 11, in Wad Medani, Sudan.
