The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani, on Monday swore in a new group of ministers and the chairpersons of the state commissions.

This development comes after a period of transition that saw the previous ministers replaced.

During the swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the state secretariat, Governor Wani emphasised the importance of cooperation and unity among the newly appointed ministers.

“I urge all of you to collaborate with each other and with the broader state cabinet. Unity and shared goals are essential to building a positive working relationship, not only with each other but also with ministry officials and staff. This is crucial as we work to address the many challenges facing our state,” said Wani.

The governor acknowledged the tough economic conditions, stressing that while the government’s goals are ambitious, the current economic situation may present obstacles.

“People may have high ambitions and expectations, but we are constrained by the current economic challenges,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General for Administration at the National Secretariat, Mary Apayi, urged the new State government officials to prioritise security as a means to ensure lasting peace across Central Equatoria State.

“I have three concerns, and the first is security. Governor, we must work relentlessly to bring peace to the people of Central Equatoria. Our citizens are suffering in camps and various counties. It is our responsibility to bring peace to them,” said Apayi.

The newly appointed Minister of Finance and Planning, Salah Rafab Bunduki, also shared his commitment to the citizens of Central Equatoria.

“We come with open hearts, ready to serve the people of this state. Our primary goal is to restore hope and ensure that the people’s needs are met,” said Bunduki.

Last week, Governor Wani made a significant reshuffle, appointing seven new ministers to various ministries and commissions, reflecting his efforts to revitalise the state’s governance amid challenging times.
