The Council of Ministers on Friday in their regular meeting chaired by Presdient Salva Kiir Mayardit passed the South Sudan Health Sector Strategic Plan.

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Michael Makuei Lueth, said the cabinet passed the health sector strategic plan after it was presented last week before cabinet meeting by the Minister of Labour, James Hoth Mai on behalf of Yolanda Awel Deng , the Minister of Health.

He noted that the strategic plan prepared by the Ministry of Health, is connected with the national health policy and health care services.

“It strengthens the partnership between the Ministry and other organizations. And for that matter, the Ministry will be signing a compact or cooperation agreement between them and all the institutions of concern. After thorough deliberations on this, the cabinet passed it with amendments, and the amendment was specifically on one thing, it was on the map of the Republic of South Sudan. The cabinet found that there are two maps here, one map is correct, and another map is the wrong map,” said Makuei.

Makuei noted that the strategic plan will also strengthen the leadership and management of the health system.
