The Commissioner of Juba County, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, has delivered food items to displaced communities in Rokon Payam.

Speaking on Tuesday during the donation ceremony, Ezbon reassured the community of the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the area.

“You need to live in peace as communities. There is no need to kill each other,” said Ezbon.

He emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence, urging residents to refrain from revenge attacks that could further escalate tensions.

The items donated to displaced families in Rokon Payam included maize flour, beans and cooking oil.

Ezbon assured the affected families that authorities are taking the necessary steps to address the situation and work towards lasting stability.

“We are engaging with security forces and local leaders to ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice,” he added.

Rokon Payam Director, Mahmud Ali Malo, said that families were displaced after cattle keepers raided more than 60 goats in one of the payams of Rokon.

“Houses were burnt and people were forced to flee their homes,” Malo stated.

He called upon the Central Equatoria State government to facilitate community peace dialogue that would bring together the warring groups to resolve their differences and prevent further bloodshed.

Meanwhile, Dina Kiden, a representative of the women in the camp, appealed to the government and humanitarian organizations to provide more support for the displaced families.

“It is heartbreaking to see our communities living in IDP camps without food and shelter. Many children and elderly people are suffering from hunger and illnesses. We need urgent assistance,” said Kiden.

About 2,480 individuals have been displaced following the conflict between local communities and cattle keepers. With tensions still high, community leaders continue to call for immediate action to restore peace and ensure the safety of all affected families.
