Lakes State on Friday joined the rest of the world to celebrate world Tuberculosis Day, with calls for prevention of the infectious disease that continues to affect many people in the remote State.
Speaking during the ceremony in Rumbek, Stephen Mathiang Deng Monydit, the State Minister for Cabinet Affairs emphasized the need for concerted efforts to prevent the spread of Tuberculosis.
He advised the population to practice isolation of utensils to prevent catching of the disease.
Benjamin Bol, representative of Ali Arkangelo Association (AAA) said last year they recorded 1,226 cases of Tuberculosis.
He disclosed that 837 cases were recorded among males, 79 females, and 310 children, adding that a total of 25 deaths were recorded in the State in 2024.
