The Governor of Jonglei State Dr. Riek Gai Kok, has reaffirmed his commitment to unite the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and restoring hope for the people of the State.
Speaking at an event on Wednesday held at the SPLM State Secretariat in Bor town, Gai expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders, paramount rulers, and party loyalists who attended the event.
He underscored the importance of the gathering, noting it would help chart a way forward for the party and reaffirm its position as the preferred political party for Jonglei’s people.
“It is gratifying to see party leaders from various counties and states filling this event to support this gathering as we strategize to ensure not only the stability of our party but also its ability to continue providing hope to Jonglei,” said Gai.
Gai called for renewed unity and solidarity among the people of Jonglei, stressing that the SPLM party would work to ensure progress and development, regardless of political affiliation.
“We must reaffirm the spirit of solidarity and togetherness that binds us as Jonglei people. Ours is a political culture that is welcoming, embracing, and liberal, not divisive and exclusionary,” he remarked.
“In the days, weeks, months and years ahead, we will continue to do everything to unite our people for meaningful development and progress. Through unity of purpose, there is no limit to what we can achieve,” Gai disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of the SPLM State Secretariat, Tong Majok Deng, praised the party’s leadership for its steadfast support and commitment to unity.
He emphasized that despite any challenges, the SPLM remains an unbreakable force offering hope and good governance to the people of Jonglei.
“We are here in Jonglei, and Dr. Riek Gai Kok has shown us that Jonglei is indeed a melting pot where everyone is welcome. The SPLM remains an indivisible party. Despite minor hiccups, we are united with all organs and leaders of the party,” said Tong.
Tong also highlighted Gai’s leadership qualities, including his open-door policy and significant developmental strides since taking office.
“What unites us as a people is far more important and substantial than whatever differences exist among us,” he said.
The event saw participation from a wide range of attendees, including members of the Political Bureau, National Liberation Council, Parliamentary Caucus, State Liberation Council, SPLM Veterans League, and Women’s League, Youth, and other top government officials.
