"We Dare where others fear"

The government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State in partnership with Africa Resource Corporation (ARC), on Sunday embarked on the construction of culverts in flood-prone areas to mitigate the impact of floods during the rainy season.
Simon Ober Mawut, Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, said they have started to install culverts to improve water flow and prevent blockages that exacerbate flooding.
“We want to ensure that waterways are opened, more culverts are installed, and road connectivity between Aweil town and all our counties is improved,” Mawut said during the launch of the project in Aweil town.
Mawut said this is a noble task that cannot wait, as the rains are fast approaching.
He called on other companies operating in the state to emulate the good gesture shown by ARC.
“I thank the ARC management for fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by supporting the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state through its willingness to provide technical assistance to the state,” said Mawut.
He directed the concerned institutions to join in supervising this road maintenance exercise.
“I wish to reaffirm my administration’s commitment towards finding permanent solutions to the recurring devastating floods in our state,” he said.
Mawut disclosed that this initiative will run concurrently with the ongoing drainage system repairs.
