WES Students’ Union Discusses Students Challenges

Western Equatoria State (WES) Students' Union leaders on Wednesday held meeting with Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the WES Youth Union, Mathew Mubarak, raised several pressing issues, such as lack of office space, office equipment, limited youth engagement activities, and the absence of transportation to support their operations.

Western Equatoria State (WES) Students’ Union leaders on Wednesday held meeting with Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State.

 During the meeting, the Chairperson of the WES Youth Union, Mathew Mubarak, raised several pressing issues, such as lack of office space, office equipment, limited youth engagement activities, and the absence of transportation to support their operations.

”We are are not meeting regularly to discuss some challenges facing us and to get access to opportunities because of limited space for youth,” Mubarak told Governor Rimbasa.

He expressed concern over the increasing number of unemployed youth in the State, adding that many young people are neither in school nor involved in any productive activities.

Mubarak also highlighted the difficulties faced by students after completing Senior 4, especially in accessing scholarships and employment opportunities.

“Our government should not leave us behind because we are feature generation youth are very important worldwide,” he said.

The group appealed for support to help bridge the gap between education and future careers.

For his part, Acting Governor Rimbasa commended the students for their unity and organizational efforts, and encouraged them to remain focused on their education and personal development.

“As the state government we will stand with youth from all different in the Bomas, Payams and Counties to support them on how they can progress in life,” Rimbasa said.

 He further reminded the students that when young people are united, they become a powerful force for positive change.

The Acting Governor appreciated the students for their visit and pledged his support toward addressing their concerns.
