The Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State, Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has asked residents of the State to unite and coexist peacefully.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday in Yambio, Badagbu called on residents across Western Equatoria to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a spirit of harmony and community.

“As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I am calling on every citizen of Western Equatoria State on behalf of the government to celebrate the day in peace, to be united in your places and work for peace,” Badagbu stated.

“I also want to tell you that Western Equatoria is no longer at war but is a peaceful State,” he disclosed.

Badagbu also condemned the death of a seven-month pregnant woman due to a stray bullet fired by unknown gun men on Thursday in Ikpiro residential area, Yambio County.

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We will do all in our power to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice before a competent court of law,” he said.

Badagbu also disclosed that some of the criminals that were arrested in March by security authorities have gone on trial and received sentences.

“The criminals who were arrested last month have appeared before the court of law and have been sentenced to jail for the criminal activities they committed in the state,” he said.

Badagbu’s message comes as authorities work to restore stability and foster reconciliation in Western Equatoria, following years of intermittent conflict and insecurity.
