The South Sudan National Police Service has reported five deaths and five injuries within last week across the country.
Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, spokesperson for the South Sudan National Police Service said that on April 21, 2025 three male victims were found shot dead by unknown armed criminals in Jebel Lado.
“Four suspects, armed with one AK-47 rifle, were apprehended at the scene by the police, and a criminal case was opened at the New Site police division. An investigation is ongoing,” Kassara said in the latest police crime report released on Monday in Juba.
He also reported that another unidentified body was discovered in the Mudiria residential area, adding that the cause of death remains unascertained, but a criminal case has been opened in the Northern police division, and investigations are underway.
Kassara disclosed that the South Sudan National Police Service is collaborating with other organized forces and working diligently to address security matters in Juba, as well as in other states and the three administrative areas.
In another separate incident, he noted that two teenagers were on April 24 suffered gunshot wounds after being attacked at midnight inside their shop in the main market in Kapoeta South County, Eastern Equatoria State.
He disclosed that on the same day a male victim drowned in a borehole in Majok-Yienthou, adding that a criminal case has been opened in the Majok-Yienthou police division.
“On April 24, 2025, armed locals from the Luacjang community attacked the Rol-Choul-Akol locality, injuring one police officer and stealing an unspecified number of cattle,” he said.
In addition, Kassara said that a Sudanese trader was shot and robbed on April 25 by armed bandits between Kapoeta North and Kapoeta South counties.
“The victim was shot in the limb, robbed, and left bleeding. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and a case has been opened in the Kapoeta South county police division,” he said.
Kassara also noted that a 28-year-old male was assaulted, shot, and injured in the right limb by unidentified armed criminals in Mapaw locality on April 25, adding that a criminal case has been opened at the Gumbo Shirkat police division, and investigations are ongoing.
He revealed that the general security situation over the past week was relatively calm and stable across the country, saying that States and administrative areas registered primarily criminal cases and isolated incidents related to social violence.
