WES Acting Governor calls for peace, unity during Idd-ul-Fitr

The Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State, Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, has called for peace, unity, and coexistence among all religious groups in the state.
"As the Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State, I extend my warmest Idd Mubarak wishes to all our Muslim brothers and sisters. May this occasion bring joy, prosperity, and blessings to you and your family,” said Rimbasa on Sunday during Idd-ul-Fitr prayers in Yambio.
He appreciated the contributions made by the Muslim community towards the development of the State.

University of Juba gets its first Alumni Association

The University of Juba on Saturday launched its first Alumni Association.

The executive leadership of the Alumni Association was elected during the general assembly meeting held at the University of Juba.
Joseph Africano, undersecretary at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, was elected as chairperson of the Alumni Association, deputized by Sarah Cleto, former Governor of Western Equatoria State. Dr. Ajak Makor was elected as Secretary General, Ms. Rebecca James as Secretary of Social & Welfare, Stanislaus John as Secretary of Information & External Relations, and Pauline Machot as Secretary of Finance.

Muslims community in Lakes state celebrate Idd-ul-Fitr

Muslim community together with government officials on Sunday celebrated Idd –ul-Fitr at Rumbek freedom square.

The celebration was attended by Mathiang Deng Monydit, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Rebecca Enock Machuoc, Minister of Trade and Industry.
Monydit assured the Muslim community of security and also said they will look into resolving some of the challenges facing the Muslim community.

CEPO urges parties to hold dialogue to resolve political crisis

The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Edmund Yakani, has urged parties to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement to urgently dialogue to resolve their differences.
“My message to our leaders at various capacity as peace partners who are tasked to implement the provision of the agreement, transitioning our country from instability to stability, our appeal is embrace dialogue as an approach of resolving your political bitterness,” Yakani said on Monday in a statement.
He appealed to President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar, to de-escalate the violence in Upper Nile State and other parts of the country.

Civil society backs church mediated dialogue to resolve political impasse

The South Sudan Civil Society Forum (SSCSF), an alliance representing over 200 civil society organizations has backed efforts by church leaders, to mediate the political impasse between the government and the opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in opposition (SPLM-IO).
The SSCSF in a statement on Friday urged President Salva Kiir Mayardit and First Vice President, Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, currently under house arrest to allow religious leaders to facilitate dialogue between the two.
