"We Dare where others fear"

The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance (SSCSA) has called on the South Sudanese government to preserve and enhance its close bilateral relations with the United States of America.
Dabek Mabior Arok, the Deputy Chairperson of the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance, said that the United States of America continues to provide hope and support, including humanitarian assistance, to the people of South Sudan.
“We acknowledge the role played by the USA, and we believe in the strong partnership and support offered to the people of South Sudan. We are deeply concerned about the implementation of the peace agreement and the support provided by the USA, especially in peacebuilding,” Arok said in a statement on Friday.
“We need their support and assistance; this is the right moment for the nation to receive help in transforming into a democracy and preparing to conduct the first-ever election at the end of the transitional period,” he added.
Arok revealed that the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance urged the United States to maintain its ties with South Sudan, noting that the presence of the U.S. embassy in Juba would help promote the implementation of peace.
“The government of the United States has contributed to change and progress in South Sudan; they have worked towards achieving sustainable peace and stability in the country,” he said.
In April 2025, the Trump administration, looking to make significant changes to its diplomatic presence abroad, issued a statement proposing to close 17 overseas embassies and 13 consulates, including the one in South Sudan.
