President Kiir Directs Security Advisor ,  Intelligence Chief to Address Security Issues

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday directed Madut Dut Yel, the new appointed Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, and Gen. Thoi Chany Reat, the Director General of the General Intelligence Bureau of the National Security Service, to tackle the country's security challenges.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday directed  Madut Dut Yel, the new appointed Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, and Gen. Thoi Chany Reat, the Director General of the General Intelligence Bureau of the National Security Service, to tackle the country’s security challenges.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed officials, President Kiir emphasized the need for all South Sudanese to unite in facing the nation’s current difficulties.

He urged the new officials to demonstrate dedication and commitment to serving the nation, stating, “Let’s focus on addressing the challenges facing our nation.”

The president noted that nation-building requires concerted efforts from citizens and added that the new officials need to cooperate with their colleagues in other institutions to achieve a peaceful and cohesive society.

Gen. Thoi Chany Reat, who previously served as the Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, assumes his role as Director General of the General Intelligence Bureau of the National Security Service, replacing Gen. Simon Yien Makuach, who has held the position since 2021.
