The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has announced plans to transform the education system and reintegrate all children currently out of school back into classrooms.
Kuyok Abol Kuyok, the Minister of General Education and Instruction, said that they have received directives from President Salva Kiir to reform the education system.
“His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, has directed us to transform education in this country,” said Kuyok on Tuesday during the inauguration of an applied science laboratory at Grinti Science and Technology Academy in Wau.
“We require that all children who are not in school must go to school; we also need to provide quality education,” he said.
Simon Athuai, the Minister of General Education and Instruction in Western Bahr El Ghazal, emphasized the need for quality education, stating that there is a need to catch up with the world in terms of educational standards.
“Our country is in need of quality education; we are lagging in acquiring education, especially in technology,” said Athuai.
“Let us catch up with the world. I am sure that where we face a shortage of educational resources, the private sector will step in to help,” he added.
