SPLM Orders Investigation into Secretariat Fire Incident

The 1st Deputy Chairperson and Secretary General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Dr. James Wani Igga, has ordered an investigation into the recent fire incident at the secretariat.

The 1st Deputy Chairperson and Secretary General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Dr. James Wani Igga, has ordered an investigation into the recent fire incident at the secretariat.

The fire broke out around 12:47 PM  on Saturday and affected part of the prefabricated offices, destroying some documents in the process.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported so far.

Dr. Wani visited the scene shortly after the incident to assess the damage.

“The SPLM National Secretariat caught fire on Saturday, the 10th, at around 12:47 PM,” Dr. Wani said  in a Facebook post.

He described the fire as unfortunate and directed the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate its cause and assess the damage.

“The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be investigated, as the 1st Deputy and Secretary General directed the formation of the Fact-Finding Committee to look into the matter and evaluate the damage caused,”

For his part, Jimmy Atilio, Acting Secretary for Culture, Information, and Communication, confirmed the incident and said  that they are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

Senior SPLM officials, including Daniel Awet Akot, Koang Danhier, Mary Apayi Ayiga, and other national secretaries, also visited the scene.
