A group of youth and dedicated regular callers from Yambio County and various areas of Western Equatoria State have contributed over 250,000 SSP to the Naanzari ECS Parish in Bazungua Payam to promote peace.
On Sunday, May 11, 2025, a remarkable display of unity and purpose took place as these dedicated regular radio callers convened at Naanzari ECS Parish in Bazungua Payam.
The event aimed to promote peace and unity, resulting in a total of 294,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) raised.
The funds collected during this colorful gathering are intended to support the ongoing work of the church at Naanzari Parish and to strengthen the activities of the regular callers’ group across the state.
In his welcoming remarks, Rev. Luka, the pastor in charge of Naanzari ECS Parish, expressed deep appreciation for the group’s efforts.
“We are grateful to the regular callers for their love, unity, and eagerness to foster peace. Your contribution is not only financial; it provides spiritual and emotional support to the people of Bazungua Payam,” Rev. Luka said.
He also encouraged both the regular callers and the wider Christian community to remain steadfast in their faith and actively participate in church activities.
Mr. Yaba Akpuruka, acting chairperson of the regular callers, highlighted the motivation behind the initiative.
“This is about unity. We aim to bring together all regular callers in the state under one umbrella, working together for peace, reconciliation, and development,” Akpuruka explained.
He added that the group is officially registered and recognized by both the state government and traditional leadership, giving it legitimacy and a platform for broader impact.
The gathering concluded with a crucial closed-door meeting focused on resolving internal disputes among members in Bazungua Payam and other regions. In a significant development, Yaba Love JK was appointed as the head of regular callers in Bazungua Payam, with Mr. Long Five named as his deputy.
This grassroots effort by ordinary citizens using their voices on radio to promote peace serves as a powerful reminder of the role communities can play in rebuilding trust and cohesion in South Sudan.
Youth frequently call into various radio stations in WES, including Anisa FM 92.0 MHz, Yambio FM 09.0 MHz, Radio Miraya 101.5, and Eye Radio 89.0 MHz.
On Anisa FM, their favorite programs are the peace-building and cultural programs. At Yambio FM, they particularly enjoy educational programs that provide advice to the community.
