The newly appointed Commissioner of Akobo County, James Kueth Makuach, assured the residents on Friday that his leadership will prioritize stability and peace throughout the county.

“As the commissioner, I am committed to working closely with all residents and neighboring communities. It is a significant responsibility to serve both the county and the state government with dedication,” Makuach stated during the welcoming ceremony held in Akobo County.

“The joyous occasion symbolized a new chapter for Akobo County, promising a future of collaboration, development, and unity,” he said.

Amer Ateny Alier, the speaker of the legislative assembly in Jonglei State, who accompanied the Commissioner with her team, encouraged the people of Akobo County to collaborate with their new leader. Alier commended the residents of Akobo County for their generous hospitality and shared words of encouragement while emphasizing unity and cooperation.

Akobo County Headquarters witnessed a heartfelt reception for the newly appointed County Commissioner, Makuach, who arrived alongside a distinguished delegation from the State Government under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Riek Gai Kok, the Governor of Jonglei State.

The event featured vibrant cultural performances, religious groups offering blessings, and the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including ministers, commissioners, and military officials. Last week, the newly appointed Akobo County Commissioner, Makuach, replaced Puok Nyang Tutjiek, who left the county for neighboring Ethiopia without seeking permission from Dr. Riek Gai Kok, the governor of Jonglei State.
