The South Sudan National Police Service on Saturday, celebrated the graduation of 290 police officers who have completed a six-month refresher training programme designed to enhance their skills and readiness.

The South Sudan National Police Service on Saturday, celebrated the graduation of 290 police officers who have completed a six-month refresher training programme designed to enhance their skills and readiness.

A six-month refresher training course focused on police laws and procedures.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony in Juba on Saturday, Gen. Abraman Manyuot Peter, Inspector General of Police, stated that the graduation aims to bolster law enforcement in the state and enhance the maintenance of law and order.

“Stand up with the very important mandate of preventing crime, combating and investigating crime, protecting life and property, maintaining law and order, and upholding the constitution,” Manyuot said.

He described the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening police services across the country.

“As I said, our focus is on transforming to achieve professionalism through training. To the public, I appeal for cooperation with the police because security is a collective responsibility,” he added.

He emphasised the importance of a well-trained police force in addressing security challenges and ensuring the safety of citizens.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Majak Arol Kuachuol, Assistant Inspector General of Admin and Finance, remarked, “We need to embrace the laws and desist from politics.”

The officers have received specialised training in ceremonial marching, VIP protection, and anti-drug control.

These skills are aimed at boosting the professionalism and readiness of the force and aligning the police with international professional standards.
