The Baguga Chapel, under the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) in Western Equatoria state, has initiated a fundraising campaign to construct a new congregation house for its worshippers.

This initiative aims to provide a permanent and dignified space for the growing Christian community in the region. The project underscores the ECSS’s commitment to supporting spiritual and community development in rural areas.

During the ceremony, community members raised a total of 954,950 SSP, with additional pledges amounting to 480,000 SSP.

Alongside financial contributions, worshippers also donated essential construction materials, including ten kilograms of nails, six iron sheets, food items, and other supplies, further demonstrating their commitment to strengthening their local church.

During the service, Nathalina Zachariah, the lay leader of Baguga Chapel, expressed gratitude to the community for their unwavering support.

“The work of God is progressing well without any problems, and we are truly grateful for the unity and dedication of our people,” Zachariah remarked.

Echoing her sentiments, Mokonzi, the Executive Chief of Yambio Municipality, praised the congregation’s determination and efficiency in building the house of God.

“The people of Baguga have shown remarkable commitment, completing this chapel in a short time. May God bless you all for the effort you’ve put in,” Mokonzi said.

Meanwhile, Edward Jacob, the Archdeacon of Amau Archdeaconry, also commended Baguga Chapel for their devotion, emphasising the significance of their newly built place of worship.

“This chapel will remain a sacred space where people can continue to praise God at all times,” Jacob stated.

As Baguga Chapel moves forward, its congregation remains hopeful, praying for the chapel to be elevated to a Sub-Parish with an assigned priest.

With faith, unity, and community spirit guiding their journey, Baguga Chapel continues to grow as a beacon of worship and devotion.

Baguga Chapel, part of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS), joyfully celebrated a thanksgiving mass on Saturday following the successful completion of their place of worship. This structure, built from grass and local materials, was completed within just 12 days after relocating from the main road to its current location. The chapel is now seeking funds to construct a permanent building.
