As part of Lakes State’s policy to prioritise “agricultural production for food for all,” the national Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, Hussein Abdelbagi Ayii Akol, undertook a three-day inspection visit to Rumbek the capital of lakes.

The purpose of the visit was to assess farming activities in key areas, specifically Cueibet and Wulu counties, which were chosen as representative examples due to their extensive farming operations.

The state caretaker minister for Agriculture, Majok Anhiem Dhal, stated that the policy of Lakes State prioritises “agricultural production for food for all and the national Minister for Agriculture and Forestry, Hon. Hussein Abdelbagi Ayii Akhol, conducted a three-day inspection visit to Rumbek to assess farming activities.

He said that the targeted areas for inspection included Cueibet and Wulu, which were selected as representative samples of other counties in Lakes State that have significant farming operations.

“The state has been supplying the country with organic foods such as groundnuts and simsim. Dhal emphasised that this initiative to boost economic production across the country can only succeed through agricultural farming”

He noted that organic foods contribute to human health by supporting body growth, providing proteins and vitamins, and enhancing cognitive function.

In a press statement on Tuesday, William Koji Kirjok, the State Caretaker Minister for Information, informed journalists that the security situation in the state is calm and the civilian population is actively engaged in farming, and the state government is committed to maintaining peace among the people of Lakes State.

“The national minister will proceed to the inspection sites smoothly, accompanied by a team from the state. This inspection is funded by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) and is taking place this week, with strong collaboration between non-governmental organisations and the Lakes State government”
