The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has launched a recruitment drive to reinforce and enhance security along the Nile River by enrolling new personnel into its riverine force.
Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, the spokesperson for the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), said that 3,000 new personnel who will serve in the riverine unit will be recruited from the ten states and three administrative areas.
“The office of the SSPDF spokesperson is proud to announce to the members of the public an open recruitment aimed at filling 3,000 vacancies in the national army,” said Koang on Monday at Eagle House in Juba.
Koang explained that each of the ten states is required to register 240 recruits, totaling 2,400 for all the ten states, while the three administrative areas will each have 200 recruits, totalling 600, making the total for the riverine force 3,000 recruits.
Koang said the recruitment drive seeks to fill positions within the riverine unit of the national army and is open to any willing, brave, dedicated, patriotic, and nationalistic applicant above the age of 18 years and below 35 years.
Koang revealed that the training will take place in Alelo Village of Makal County in Upper Nile State, and applicants should be fluent in the primary languages used within the military setting, including Arabic and English.
“The applicants are required to meet the following requirements: be a South Sudanese citizen, be between the ages of 18 to 35 years, hold a secondary school certificate or equivalent, be physically fit, mentally sound, morally upright, and have no criminal records,” he said.
Koang also disclosed that the announcements indicate that the SSPDF is embarking on a comprehensive effort to strengthen its forces, both domestically and on the international stage.
The two-week recruitment drive commences on June 10, 2025, and ends on June 24, 2025. New recruits are asked to report to the SSPDF’s state divisional and administrative area headquarters.
