After a lengthy break, Western Equatoria State’s lawmakers will reconvene on Tuesday, reinstating the legislative process and public service agenda.

The decision to reconvene follows the first session of the Assembly Business Committee this year, conducted in close coordination with Acting Governor H.E. Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Governor Rimbasa confirmed the plan to reopen next week, highlighting the necessity of resuming daily legislative operations that have been suspended for some time.

“All the honourable members who are not within the state should report before the reopening,” he stated. “The Assembly has been quiet for a long time without operation.”

In an official statement signed by Acting Clerk Mr. Levi Taban Adlajen, all lawmakers are urged to report to Yambio without delay to facilitate a smooth resumption of business.

“I’m urging all our honourable members to report to Yambio as we prepare for the reopening of our Assembly, so that we can continue with our sittings,” the Clerk noted.

The leadership of the Assembly emphasises that punctual attendance is crucial for ensuring effective governance and timely deliberation on matters affecting the people of Western Equatoria.

The reopening signifies not just a procedural restart but also a symbolic commitment to re-engage with pressing community concerns, from development initiatives to service delivery, as the state moves into the second half of 2025.
