Women’s Body Mourns Departed Member, Offers Condolences to Family

The South Sudanese Women Intellectuals Forum, a non-profit organisation, mourned the death of one of its members, Engineer Teresa Cirisio, who passed away on Sunday in Egypt.

The South Sudanese Women Intellectuals Forum, a non-profit organisation, mourned the death of one of its members, Engineer Teresa Cirisio, who passed away on Sunday in Egypt.

Ms. Cirisio died at 11:30 a.m. in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday,  at the age of 67 following a short illness.

“The South Sudanese Women Intellectuals Forum is deeply saddened by the passing of one of its esteemed members, Hon. Engineer Teresa Cirisio,” read part of a statement issued on Monday.

The forum described the late Cirisio as a trailblazer in both politics and engineering.

It noted that she was one of the few female engineers in South Sudan and a respected veteran politician.

“Her contributions to the advancement of women and the development of the nation were both significant and inspiring.”

The forum stated that her death is a great loss to the women and people of South Sudan.

“She will be remembered for her leadership and unwavering dedication to public service.”

Prior to her death, she served as a member of the board of the South Sudan National Communication Authority.

She also worked as a consultant for various NGOs and government institutions.

Ms. Cirisio began holding ministerial roles following the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

She served in several key positions, including Deputy Minister of Environment and Deputy Minister of Telecommunications in Sudan.

Additionally, she served as chairperson of the Sudan African National Union (SANU).

Later, she served as chairperson of the Reform Political Parties Council.
