"We Dare where others fear"

Vice President Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel met yesterday with a high-level delegation from IGAD, led by Executive Secretary H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, to explore deeper cooperation between South Sudan and the regional bloc.
The meeting was also attended by Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In a statement posted on the Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster Facebook page, the two leaders discussed critical milestones in advancing the Revitalised Peace Agreement as an essential pathway to lasting peace, stability, and national unity.
Dr. Gebeyehu assured the Vice President of IGAD’s support, emphasising that South Sudan’s peace is vital not only to its citizens but also to the region.
According to the statement, the Vice President welcomed IGAD’s visit as an affirmation of their enduring commitment to the South Sudanese people. He also acknowledged the organisation as a trusted partner in guiding the country through its most critical transitions.
It was stated that both leaders shared a forward-looking vision rooted in synergy and emphasised the urgency of remaining committed to peace, institutional reform, and development.
“The government of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit is actively securing the support needed to build a united and thriving nation,” the statement concluded.
