In a heartfelt message commemorating South Sudan’s 14th Independence Day, Central Equatoria State Governor Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel extended warm congratulations to President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the people of South Sudan.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing peace, unity, and national development.

Speaking ahead of the national celebrations, Governor Mujung described Independence Day as a moment of reflection and pride — a day that honours the resilience, courage, and sacrifices of the nation’s founding heroes and heroines.

“This is more than just a historic day,” he said. “It is a reminder of the values upon which our freedom was built — peace, unity, justice, and dignity. Today, we recommit ourselves to these ideals as a people bound by a shared future.”

Governor Mujung praised the ongoing efforts of both leaders and citizens who are working tirelessly to strengthen peace and rebuild communities. He stressed that Central Equatoria State remains committed to inclusive governance and people-centred development, with a focus on healthcare, education, infrastructure, and disaster response — essential services he described as “fundamental rights of every citizen.”

He also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to uphold transparency, accountability, and sustainable development, noting that lasting peace is only possible when people are empowered and their basic needs are met.

Acknowledging the challenges that still face the nation, Governor Mujung called for solidarity and collective action.

“At this critical time, let us rise above divisions and stand together,” he urged. “Only by embracing our diversity and working hand in hand can we build the peaceful, united South Sudan that our forebears dreamed of.”

With the country moving forward on the path towards full implementation of the 2018 peace agreement and preparing for its first national elections, the Governor emphasised that this year’s independence anniversary holds deeper meaning.

“Happy 14th Independence Day,” he concluded. “May our unity guide us, our peace sustain us, and may God bless Central Equatoria State and the Republic of South Sudan.”
