The governor of Jonglei State, Riek Gai Kok on Wednesday urged the people of Jonglei to embrace peaceful coexistence, unity, and hard work to foster development across the state.
“I call on all the people of Jonglei State to continue playing their part in the development of our state and nation. Let us uphold the values of peace, unity, and hard work as we contribute to the progress of our dear country,” said Kok during the South Sudan’s 14th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
“While we celebrate these achievements, we must also look forward to a renewed sense of purpose, unity, and commitment to building a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come,” he added.
Kok emphasized that Independence Day is not just a celebration of the birth of a nation but also a reflection of the enduring spirit of resilience, hope, and unity that has sustained South Sudanese through decades of challenges and triumphs.
He acknowledged the sacrifices of forefathers who fought for freedom and recognised the efforts of all those who have contributed to South Sudan’s growth and development.
“Here in Jonglei State, we have much to be proud of. Our unique culture, natural beauty, and the hard work of our citizens are a testament to our strength,” stated Kok.
“As we raise our flags high in celebration of our independence, may we also elevate our hopes and aspirations for a prosperous, peaceful, and united South Sudan,” he concluded.
