The superstar’s arrival marks the beginning of highly anticipated celebrations in the city.

The vibrant town of Yambio erupted in celebration on Tuesday evening as Dr. Jose Chameleon made his long-awaited arrival for South Sudan’s 14th Independence Day festivities.

Touching down at Yambio Airstrip at exactly 6:10 PM South Sudan time, the legendary artist was greeted by a sea of ecstatic fans who had been waiting for him.

The crowd was a colourful tapestry of nationalities, with South Sudanese, Congolese, Central Africans, and Ugandans united by music and the spirit of peace and unity among all living in Western Equatoria, Yambio.

Chameleon’s visit, his first to Yambio, was made possible through the efforts of Promoter Yambio Don, Bafuka General Trading Agro-Business Limited Company, and other promoters dedicated to bringing world-class entertainment to the region.

Speaking to the press moments after stepping off the plane, Chameleon was visibly moved by the overwhelming reception.

“It’s crazy, look at the love. It’s exciting to be here for the first time. I believe these people have come with a full package of entertainment. Everything is going to be beautiful,” he said.

Beyond the music, Chameleon delivered a heartfelt message of peace, unity, and forgiveness for all.

“Let’s continue preserving peace. If there was no peace, I wouldn’t be here. My presence shows that peace is beginning to prevail. I urge South Sudanese to keep loving one another and extend that love across Africa.”

Shortly after his arrival, Chameleon paid a courtesy visit to the residence of H.E. Daniel Rimbasa, Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State.

The Acting Governor welcomed Dr. Jose Chameleon to the state and assured him that Western Equatoria remains peaceful.

“As you have come to the capital of the state, Yambio, feel at home and entertain your people well without any problems. We need you to enjoy independence with us and return safely,” he said.

He was joined by celebrated South Sudanese artists Mr. Lengs, Juna De Star, and T-Manager Emmy J Yeore, among others.

The superstar is also expected to meet His Majesty King Rikito Peni Gbudue of the Azande Kingdom, further cementing cultural ties between Uganda and South Sudan on Wednesday, July 9th.

On Wednesday, July 9th, South Sudan’s Independence Day, Chameleon  performed at a special concert at St. Mary Primary School and Yambio Resort Hotel.

As the sun sets on the eve of Independence Day, Yambio is buzzing with anticipation. With peace as the backdrop and music as the language, this historic visit is more than a concert—it is a celebration of resilience, unity, and the power of art to bring people together.
