The National Civil Defense Service (NCDS) has identified significant logistical challenges, particularly the difficulty in transporting empty fire extinguishers from Western Equatoria to Juba for refilling.
Nevertheless, the institution has reaffirmed its commitment to providing essential public safety services.
“Despite these challenges, we are 100% ready to support the government, collaborate on development programmes, and serve the people of South Sudan,” said NCDS Director in WES, Col. Henry Louis Malesh, following a meeting with Acting Governor of WES, H.E. Daniel Rimbasa Badagbu.
He expressed optimism that the era of exclusion has come to an end.
Emphasising a spirit of national unity, Malesh highlighted the importance of all departments, from the capital to the Payam and Boma levels, operating as a cohesive government. He attributed the NCDS’s continued progress to both divine guidance and visionary leadership.
In a gesture rich with cultural significance and spiritual reflection, the NCDS presented the Acting Governor with a traditional gift package, which included a half-jacket, bag, cape, and stick. This presentation was accompanied by a scripture-based reflection from Luke 17:11–19, focusing on themes of gratitude and healing.
Governor Badagbu warmly received the delegation, describing their visit as a “blessing from Almighty God” and a reminder of their shared mission to uplift the nation.
“You have made me feel the weight and value of this work today,” he remarked. “With your gifts rooted in tradition and spirit, you remind us that governance is both a duty and a divine calling. I urge you to continue with this same spirit.”
The Western Equatoria State Government has reiterated its commitment to enhancing collaboration and resource allocation, with officials stressing that ensuring the safety of lives and property remains a top priority.
In a renewed demonstration of unity and collaboration, the National Civil Defense Service (NCDS) has pledged its full support to government programmes under the leadership of Acting Governor H.E. Daniel Rimbasa Badagbu.
This announcement signifies a pivotal shift from previous administrations, during which NCDS officials had been notably excluded from critical state meetings.
