The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, on Tuesday called on the Mundari community of Terekeka County to desist from violence and embrace peace and harmony.
Mujung made this call during his meeting with the leadership of the Mundari community at the State Secretariat in Juba.
A statement issued by the Governor’s Press Unit said, “Governor Mujung highlighted the critical importance of unity among the people of Terekeka County and across Central Equatoria State.”
Mujung stated that the call for peace is in line with President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s directives to enhance peace, stability, and collaboration across the state.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with leaders from Terekeka to address local needs and strengthen community cohesion.
Emmanuel Loku Ladu, Commissioner of Terekeka County, stressed the urgent need to construct water reservoirs to mitigate seasonal cattle migration caused by water scarcity.
“We are planning a conference to engage our cattle keepers in Kudda, and I strongly encourage their participation,” Loku said.
Loku also emphasised the need to improve education and healthcare services in the county.
The governor has also pledged to collaborate with development partners to establish water reservoirs, which will help reduce cross-county migration.
Wani Buyu, the Acting Chairman of the Mundari community, underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence, particularly along the borders shared with Jonglei and Lakes States.
“We are encouraging our people to engage in farming activities, and we have appealed to the governor to assist us with agricultural tools. This is essential for achieving food security and sustainable development,” said Buyu.
Buyu reiterated the community’s unwavering support for the governor and the state leadership.
