"We Dare where others fear"

The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to South Sudan, Metin Ergin on Tuesday, said that the Turkish people remember the deadly attempt to overthrow the constitutional order of the Republic on July 15, 2016.
“On this day in 2016, there was an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order of the Republic. The Republic has endured for a thousand years, but many of our fellow citizens—soldiers, airmen, and civilians—lost their lives defending democracy,” Ergin said during a remembrance event held at the embassy to commemorate democracy and unity.
“We will not forget this treason, and we will not forgive. We will continue to approach our foreign counterparts through a lens of friendship, seeking cooperation in dealing with the remnants of this organisation,” he added.
On July 15, 2016, coup plotters, identified as members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO), launched a violent operation in Ankara, resulting in over 250 deaths and more than 2,700 injuries.
Ergin noted that the cult responsible for the coup attempted to indoctrinate schoolchildren and infiltrated various state institutions, including the military, police, intelligence, judiciary, and civil society.
He also disclosed that the parliament building, where the legislative power of the Turkish nation resides, was bombed from the air, marking it as the most traumatic event in the history of the Turkish Republic.
“It failed because the Turkish society and nation would not allow such a despicable attempt. However, over 250 of our citizens died, and thousands more were injured in the fight against these traitors,” he said.
“Now, this organisation has been suppressed. Its tentacles have been severed from its main body, and it is attempting to survive in foreign lands while conspiring and financing its terrorism. But these efforts will not succeed,” he concluded.
