Over 36,000 Pass 2024 CSE Examination, Government Confirms

At least 36,701 candidates out of 48,079 have passed the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, according to results released yesterday by the national Ministry of General Education and Instruction.

At least 36,701 candidates out of 48,079 have passed the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, according to results released yesterday by the national Ministry of General Education and Instruction.

Kuyok Abol Kuyok, the Minister of General Education and Instruction, announced the examination results and stated that the Ministry has implemented a system to prevent delays in future result releases.

“In terms of performance, of the 48,079 candidates who attempted the exams—28,192 males and 19,887 females—36,701 candidates passed, which includes 21,619 males and 15,082 females, resulting in an overall pass rate of 76.3%,” said Kuyok.

“As indicated in the score distribution, a total of 11,378 candidates—about 6,573 males and 4,805 females—were unsuccessful. This represents nearly a quarter, 23.7%,” he added.

The top-performing school in the country is Amazing Grace High School in Jonglei State, with a score of 85.2%. The second highest is Darling Wisdom Academy in Central Equatoria State with 85.1%, followed by Daystar Academy School from Jonglei State with 83.7%.

The top candidate is Philip Manyok Ayuen Abeny from Greenbelt Academy School in Jonglei State, achieving a score of 91.6%. The second highest is Murye Anthony Duku from Haven High School with 91.4%, followed by Bhor Gatbel Malual Luak from St. Lawrence Academy and Edmund Chobo Patrick from Juba Diocesan Model Secondary School, along with Diing Deborah Majok from Amonto Girls Secondary School in Central Equatoria State.

The top-performing girl is Murye Anthony Duku with 91.4% from Haven High School, followed by Diing Deborah Majok from Amonto Girls Secondary School with 90%, and Saja Gamal Eldin Hassan with 89.6% from Haven High School.

Kuyok revealed that the 2024 CSE examinations were administered to 50,004 candidates, including 29,353 males and 20,651 females, across 535 academies nationwide.

He also disclosed that 130 candidates were set for the commercial section at Juba Commercial Secondary School, while 197 candidates were assigned to the technical section at Juba Technical Secondary School.


Kuyok stated that the Ministry of General Education and Instruction will focus on the recruitment and training of teachers in Chemistry, Principles of Accounting, and Arabic Language to enhance curriculum delivery.

“Subject performance analysis indicates that Chemistry, Principles of Accounting, and Arabic Language were the lowest-performing subjects in the 2024 CSE examinations, while Agriculture, Computer Science, Physics, Islamic Religion, English Literature, and Citizenship showed relatively good improvement,” he said.

“Members of the public and candidates are advised to obtain their official results from the schools where the students took their examinations. Alternatively, they can use the result-check application by dialing star 113 followed by their index number,” he added.
