The Chinese embassy, in partnership with China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, convened a seminar to address complex crises, including floods, droughts, community conflicts, and diseases, among others.
Huo Ying, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Chinese embassy in South Sudan, revealed that China has always remained steadfast in its support for South Sudan, emphasising that the seminar aims to address these complex crises.
“Currently, global challenges are emerging one after another. Strengthening capacity building in crisis management is crucial for safeguarding national stability and development,” said Huo on Tuesday at the Beijing Hotel during the opening of the seminar on crisis management in South Sudan.
Huo reiterated that China is committed to supporting South Sudan’s peace and development, adding that the seminar is a concrete action to implement the spirit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
“We hope to share China’s experience and technology in relevant fields to help our South Sudanese colleagues enhance their capacity to address complex challenges and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability,” she stated.
Peng Wei, the project manager for the China Aid Training Faculty at Hunan International Business Vocational College, remarked that South Sudan will be able to integrate the insights gained during the seminar with the actual context of the country.
Peng noted that the successful gathering and launch of this seminar are attributed to the strong support of China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Chinese embassy in South Sudan, as well as close collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
“This progress will deepen the cooperation between China and South Sudan in the field of crisis management and lay a solid foundation for a peaceful environment in South Sudan,” said Peng.
Denis Marial Muorwel, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, stated that the seminar is invaluable to South Sudan as the country continues to face multifaceted challenges.
“South Sudan, as a young nation, has experienced numerous crises ranging from natural disasters to complex humanitarian emergencies. These challenges have tested our resilience and underscore the urgent need for effective crisis management and response mechanisms,” said Muorwel.
The seminar on crisis management and response in South Sudan, facilitated by Hunan International Business Vocational College, is organised by the Chinese embassy and China’s Ministry of Commerce.
On August 25, 2025, the China-South Sudan High-Level Peace and Development Symposium, attended by scholars, think tanks, and other representatives from both countries, was successfully held in Juba.
