VP Bol Mel Vows to Uphold Public Trust, Serve with Dedication

The Vice President for the Economic Cluster, General Benjamin Bol Mel, praised President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his promotion to the rank of general, pledging to honour the trust placed in him.

The Vice President for the Economic Cluster, General Benjamin Bol Mel, praised President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his promotion to the rank of general, pledging to honour the trust placed in him.

“Throughout my career, H.E. the President has guided me and challenged me to take on greater responsibilities in my service to the nation, and I remain committed to living up to that trust,” Bol said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Monday.

Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel was promoted from Lieutenant General to General in the National Security Service, alongside Mamur Obote Mete, who also advanced from Lieutenant General to General, and Madut Dut Yel, who serves as the Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs.

Bol also commended First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit and her family for their support and for nurturing him.

“I appreciate the strength and values she has instilled in me as the foundation of my leadership,” Bol said.

He stated that the National Security Service is the primary agency responsible for safeguarding sovereignty, peace, and stability.

“I salute the men and women of the Service whose sacrifices protect our people each day,” he said.

“It is my privilege to join them in their daily mission of safeguarding our nation, defending our citizens, and upholding the rule of law.”

He expressed his commitment to the principles of loyalty, discipline, and selfless service, which are expected of him as Vice President by his colleagues and all citizens.

“At the same time, in my role as Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, I will ensure that our security institutions and operations support sustainable economic growth in the country,” he said.

“The true measure of our work in the NSS will be the confidence of every South Sudanese to live in peace and raise their children in a nation of progress and opportunity.”
