The Governor of Warrap State, Bol Wek Agoth, met with Transport Minister Dr. Lam Akol in Juba on Tuesday, to discuss the development of airports in the state.
The discussion focused on improving key transport infrastructure, particularly Kuajok Airport and Akon International Airport.
In a Facebook post from the Warrap Governor’s office Press Unit, Wek emphasised the importance of airports, stating that they provide the first impression of a country or state.
He praised the advancements made at Juba International Airport and expressed optimism that Warrap State would benefit from similar improvements.
Wek pointed out that the progress achieved at Juba International Airport during Dr. Lam Akol’s tenure serves as a model for potential success at the state’s airports.
He highlighted that investment in airports could create trade opportunities and generate employment for youth, thereby contributing to poverty reduction in the state.
“The Governor of Warrap State believes that investments in airports open the state to trade opportunities and create jobs for young people, which, in turn, helps reduce poverty.”
The governor also recognised the efforts of the government and contractors involved in these developments.
He called for increased commitment to completing projects that can enhance the quality of life for residents.
In response, Dr. Lam Akol shared the government’s plans to finalise ongoing projects at Juba International Airport, outlining efforts to upgrade airports to international standards with an emphasis on safety, security, and overall appearance.
