"We Dare where others fear"

Bor County Commissioner of Jonglei State, Samuel Ateny Pech, on Friday stated that he will serve all individuals equally, regardless of their support for him.
“If you accept me as your leader, I will work for you wholeheartedly,” Ateny said following his swearing-in ceremony in Bor town on Friday.
Ateny rejected the allegation that he has been disowned by his community, calling it a ‘pure lie.’
“I would request the President to observe the crowd that has gathered today to disprove the allegations that I have been disowned by the community. It is a pure lie,” he said.
He stated that an individual who has been disowned by the community cannot expect a warm reception from it.
“Is it possible for someone disowned by their community to receive a welcome from this group today? Those asserting that I am disowned cannot receive such a reception,” he said.
Ateny added, “I am happy today, and I would like to express my appreciation to the President of the Republic of South Sudan, His Excellency, Salva Kiir Mayardit, for re-appointing me to the position of Commissioner of the entire county.”
He expressed gratitude to Jonglei State Governor, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, for supporting the decision to appoint him as commissioner of Bor County, even after the document was leaked to the public.
“I am very happy that the entire population of this county has been standing under the hot sun since morning, waiting for my swearing-in.”
Kiir appointed Ateny Pech Ariik as Commissioner of Bor County on 18th September 2025, replacing James Gai Makor.
