Lakes State Education Minister Flags Off CSE Exams for 2,135 Candidates

Lakes State Education Minister Nelson Makoi Makur On Monday officially marked the beginning of the Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examinations at Rumbek Senior Secondary School by ringing the bell on behalf of Governor Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor. A total of 2,135 students are registered to sit for the exams across the state.

 Lakes State Education Minister Nelson Makoi Makur On Monday officially marked the beginning of the Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examinations at Rumbek Senior Secondary School by ringing the bell on behalf of Governor Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor. A total of 2,135 students are registered to sit for the exams across the state.

Makur encouraged the candidates to stay healthy, confident, and focused throughout the examination period, urging them to make Lakes State proud when the results are announced.

“Those who succeed are the ones who demonstrate the skills, experience, and knowledge they have gained during lessons,” he said.

The minister warned that the state will not tolerate any form of examination malpractice.

He stated that any examination centre found cheating will be shut down, and the scripts of both the culprits and the entire centre will be marked in red to alert national examiners during the marking process.

The State Secretary for Examinations, Ustaz Jibril Chol Maker, reported that the 2,135 candidates are drawn from 20 secondary schools, comprising 1,467 males and 668 females. They have been assigned to 13 examination centres located in Rumbek Central County, Cueibet, and Yirol.

“A total of 96 invigilators and 39 security personnel have been deployed to ensure the smooth administration of the exams, which will run until 9th December

,” Maker stated.

He emphasised that the examinations will be overseen jointly by both state and national authorities, with a strict zero tolerance policy for malpractice.

Maker also expressed gratitude to the state authorities and educational partners—including Oxfam, DARD, and DOR—for their continued support in enhancing the quality of education. He noted that their assistance ensured the exams commenced smoothly and without anxiety among candidates.
