The Deputy Governor of Central Equatoria State, Paulino Lukudu Obede on Friday,  led a government delegation to inspect the ongoing renovation of the Gudele One – Buwaba road in the Juba suburb.

The renovation, carried out by Juba City Council, began two weeks ago and aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the city.

The project aims to improve access to services for the residents of Rock City, Gudele One, and Munuki.

In his key address during the inspection of the road in Gudele on Friday, Clement Maring Samuel, Central Equatoria State Minister of Roads and Bridges, praised Juba City Council for renovating the road to ease traffic in the city.

“I want to congratulate the mayor and his team for their efforts in clearing the potholes on this section of the road, which had caused people to become stuck and led to public outcry,” Maring said.

Maring emphasised the significance of this road in enhancing the ease of movement and accessibility of services for the residents.

“Last Saturday, I came here and was stuck in the middle because of the ongoing construction on this road,” he said.

For his part, Johnson Swaka, Mayor of Juba City Council, revealed that the city council has already completed the work on the road.

“We have realised this road has many potholes, and during the rainy season, it blocked water passage. We have been working on this road for 13 days now, and today we have completed the work,” Swaka said.

He stated that the renovation of the road is part of the city council’s commitment to service delivery.

“When we renovate the road, we don’t do it for the Juba City Council or Central Equatoria State; they are built as part of our service to the citizens.”
