Thirty-five Christians from the Rokon Diocese of the South Sudan Episcopal Church received the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday during a solemn ceremony at Grace Church, located in a suburb of Juba.

The event marked a significant spiritual milestone for the faithful as they reaffirmed their commitment to the Christian faith.

The confirmation was performed by Bishop Emmanuel Lomoro of the Rokon Diocese of the Anglican Church at Grace Church.

While presiding over the confirmation service, Bishop Emmanuel Lomoro encouraged the believers to become ambassadors of peace and reconciliation within their communities.

“Let God give you power, for amidst you, some will become great priests to preach the gospel of God everywhere, and you will destroy evil spirits,” Lomoro told SSBC on Sunday.

Bishop Lomoro urged the confirmed youth to be faithful and hardworking in their service to God in order to be successful in life.

“The evil spirit that is tormenting people here in Juba seeks to destroy them in the name of Jesus Christ so that it may go away and set people free.”

He asked the believers to remain strong in faith to overcome the challenges ahead of them.

“I am also appealing to our government because the citizens of South Sudan have patience, and there are no citizens more patient than those of South Sudan,” he said.

The clergy urged the government to restore stability so that peace may prevail in the country.

“We need peace in South Sudan, and it is not the peace of mere words but genuine peace,” he said.

As a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ, Confirmation confers the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon the recipient.

The recipient must have been baptised at the age of 12.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit include wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.
