Gov’t Responds to Nassir Crisis with Free Medical Care

In response to the recent displacement crisis in Nassir, the government established a fully operational medical facility on 27th May 2025 to provide free healthcare to affected residents.

 Since its launch, the facility has treated over 512 individuals as of 9th June 2025, offering critical medical services to communities impacted by the unrest.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Albino Akol Atak Mayom, said  that as part of the government’s response to the recent incident in Nassir that caused displacement, a fully operational medical facility was established in Nassir in May, providing free medical care to all citizens in the affected areas.

“From the date of establishment up to 9th June 2025, more than 512 people have received medical treatment,” Atak told the press during a conference on Thursday.

He said that these numbers reflect the urgency of the situation and the government’s immediate commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of its people.

“These comprehensive humanitarian operations, focused on protection, food distribution, and medical care, have already resulted in over 10,000 citizens voluntarily returning to their homes, restoring hope and stability to communities long affected by the conflict and displacement.”

He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and unity across the country.

“The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management will continue to coordinate with all stakeholders to deliver aid to every corner of the country and ensure that no South Sudanese is left behind in these national efforts.”

He added that the comprehensive humanitarian operation focuses on protection, food distribution, and medical care, which has yielded positive results, with many citizens voluntarily returning home. This has restored hope and stability to communities long affected by the conflict.

Akol also stated that the government of South Sudan reiterated its unwavering commitment to restoring unity and peace nationwide for its citizens.

He emphasised that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management will not overlook any area in extending support to the affected people in remote locations.

“The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management will continue to coordinate with all stakeholders to deliver aid to every corner of the country and ensure that no South Sudanese is left behind in these national efforts,” Akol concluded.
