The Twic East Youth Association (TEYA) in Juba elected Deng William Kuir Bul, also known as Deng Junior, to lead for a two-year term from 2025 to 2027 on Sunday. He received a total of 1,511 votes under the union known as Twic East Forward (TEF).
Akech Awan Adit, the Chairman of the TEYA Independent Electoral Committee for 2025-2027, said that the election registered 3,656 voters, with a turnout of 3,514 across the five payams and was conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
Kuir, the flagbearer of Twic East Forward (TEF), marked a significant milestone in his youth leadership journey by winning in his third bid, due to his commitment, firm engagement, and a robust campaign focused on progress and unity.
As the newly elected Chairperson of the Twic East Youth Association in Juba (TEYA) for the 2025–2027 term, Kuir received 1,511 votes in a competitive and highly participatory election, which witnessed high voter turnout across all payams of Twic East.
“Twic East Forward does not belong to Deng William; it belongs to the Twic East community. This victory belongs to the young people of Twic East who believe in progress and inclusion,” Kuir said on Monday shortly after the electoral results were announced.
William competed against four other candidates, including Abraham Dut Atem Malek of the Twic East Alliance for Development (TEAD), who garnered 31.6 percent, and Bul John Ajak of the Twic East Youth Vision for Development (TEYVD), who received 14.1 percent.
Other aspirants included Khot Jacob Jok Ajak of the Twic East Youth Solidarity Alliance (TEYSA), who obtained 7.5 percent, and Adier Simon Deng of the Twic East Network Alliance (TENA), who also attained 2 percent.
The Twic East Youth Association (TEYA) is a Community-Based Organisation (CBO) dedicated to empowering the youth and women of the Twic East community and fostering personal and collective development through education, vocational training, and community engagement.
William will replace Arok Dut Arok, the outgoing chairperson of the Twic East Youth Association (TEYA), who has been managing the affairs of the association in Juba for the past two years.
