Lakes State SPLM Chairperson and Governor Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor has called on county chairpersons to intensify grassroots mobilisation in rural areas ahead of the December 2026 general elections.

He emphasised that with the endorsement of President Salva Kiir Mayardit as the sole SPLM presidential candidate, reorganising at the community level will be crucial to securing victory for the ruling party.

“The competition among the parties should be conducted peacefully. The process of free and fair results must be acknowledged positively. There is political space that the SPLM recognises should be practised in Lakes State, and the responsibilities of the counties, where individuals serve as both chairpersons and executive directors, should focus on the activities of these offices,” Cde Mabor stated.

He urged them to avoid conflicts of interest concerning resources, security, and the fairness of administration, which he deemed a priority.

The newly sworn-in SPLM county chairpersons include Cde Adongthiar Padhil Maker, who also serves as executive director and chairperson for Rumbek Centre, replacing Majok Arop Majok; Cde Zacharia Malual Anyuon for Rumbek East, replacing Cde Mangar Machuol Malok; Cde Maker Magok Majok for Rumbek North, replacing Cde Mabor Deng Both; Cde Peter Mabor Dheng, also executive director for Cueibet, replacing Cde Zacharia Riak Mathen; and Cde Balang Arok Dakbai for Yirol West, serving as both executive director and SPLM chairperson, replacing Cde Mabor Awer Mabor.

Cde Adongthiar Padhil Maker, chairperson for Rumbek Central County, represented his newly appointed colleagues and stated that the SPLM will foster mutual cooperation and mobilisation among all senior cadres to reach grassroots levels, in order to achieve the missions, objectives, and visions of the ruling party.
