The Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) has postponed a scheduled sitting regarding South Sudan’s territorial boundaries with neighbouring countries, citing a lack of sufficient information from the relevant ministers.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Clerk to the Assembly Makuc Makuc Ngong announced that the sitting, which was intended to hear reports from key ministers, could not proceed as planned.

“The Office of the Clerk to the Assembly is hereby informing the TNLA leadership and all the Honorable Members that the sitting of today, Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, on the summons of Hon. Ministers of the TGONU to give comprehensive reports on the Republic of South Sudan Territory, has been postponed until further notice due to unavailability of sufficient reports accordingly,” Makuc stated in the notice.

The ministers summoned to present reports included those of Presidential Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Defence and Veterans Affairs, National Security, Interior, Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and Land, Housing, and Urban Development.

Additionally, the chairpersons of the Joint Sudan–South Sudan Border Commission and the Joint Technical Committee were expected to brief lawmakers on the status of disputed border areas.

On Monday, the National Parliament summoned Finance Minister Athian Deng Athian, Central Bank Governor Addis Ababa Othow, and the head of the Financial Intelligence Unit to explain the scarcity of local currency in banks.
