The Chinese embassy in Juba, in collaboration with China’s Ministry of Commerce and Hunan International Business Vocational College, has offered to deepen cooperation with South Sudan.
Li Wancheng, the Counselor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan, stated that China will always be a reliable partner, sharing similar aspirations and moving forward hand in hand with South Sudan.
“We are ready to work with our South Sudanese brothers and sisters, seizing the opportunity presented by the global governance initiative to deepen practical cooperation in various fields, including early warning, emergency capacity building, and personnel training,” Wancheng said during the closing of a two-week seminar on crisis management and response for South Sudan.
Wancheng expressed that China looks forward to collaborating with all countries to create a more just and equitable global governance system and to advance towards a community with a shared future for humanity.
“Supporting South Sudan in enhancing its crisis management and response capabilities is a crucial part of achieving peace and development in South Sudan and is a shared responsibility of the international community,” he added.
Lawrence Akola, the Director General for Planning, Training, and Coordination in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, noted that the seminar has laid a solid foundation for future China-South Sudan cooperation.
“The China-South Sudan relationship is deepening; the cooperation has become a bridge for strengthening collaboration between China and South Sudan in the field of emergency management,” Akola said.
Peng Wei, the project manager of the China-aided training faculty at Hunan International Business Vocational College, remarked that the seminar will assist South Sudan in handling emergencies across the country.
“The participants have not only systematically mastered the theoretical framework of crisis management and response but have also enhanced their practical operational capabilities and developed crisis response ideas and methods tailored to South Sudan’s local needs,” he said.
“The participants will transform these ideas into practical actions to improve South Sudan’s crisis response capabilities, safeguard the safety of the people, and promote the country’s stable development,” he added.
