The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has revealed that criminals affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO) attacked a national security base and an army barrack, leaving five soldiers wounded in Kapoeta South County.
“This morning at around 4 am, the group of criminals attacked the national security office, opening fire on the building, and in the morning, they shot at one of the military barracks,” Lojore told the Dawn yesterday.
“They laid an ambush and shot at the security forces before fleeing. About five soldiers were wounded, and the injured have been taken to Juba for treatment,” he said.
Lojore disclosed that security forces pursued the attackers around 6 am, but they fell into an ambush.
Lojore stated that this incident in Kapoeta South County is the first of its kind.
“These are criminals associated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition; they are trying to hijack the implementation of the peace agreement,” he said.
